I've just launched the new web site at http://www.wildlifesurveys.org.uk/index.html and will have the content sorted by early September. Alongside this blog the site is primarily a record of my Red Squirrel survey work in the geographical area to the west of Inverness. Strathconon is the main focus and will later encompass the corridor west to Loch Broom and Ullapool.
As well as squirrel records I will be including as much habitat info' as possible, along with incidental observations of other wildlife, especially where presence and activity impinge on Red Squirrels.
Generally, locations of sightings will be recorded; but there may be exceptions if I feel that disclosing a location may not be in the best interest of either the species concerned or in some cases the landowner. In particular I will never publish locations of Badger sets and their associated territories because of the adverse interest this may generate.
My next task is to update all my Squirrel records on the national data base which can be viewed at http://www.scottishsquirrelsurvey.co.uk/map.html
